Seeing Red (and white)!

Seeing all this red and white kind of makes me excited for Christmas!  Well, I'm always excited about Christmas to be honest!

Mums, carnations, alstroemaria, stattice, hypericum berries, gerbera daisies!!  Wow, this looks so fluffy and rich!  Perfect for centerpieces, don't you think?

These flowers are so hearty and lush looking.  My wholesaler really came through for me on this!!

Flowers Everywhere!

One thing I can't get enough of are flowers!  (Guess I picked the right vocation huh??!!)  There is just something about a fresh bouquet that makes an event really special.  It adds a certain touch of elegance and ultimately they are a great conversation starter!

One thing I always encourage my clients to do is add a small arrangement or two where you might not normally have one.  For example, a powder bath or in the entryway.  It really helps to tie everything together and make the event look more cohesive.

The following arrangements were for a recent graduation luncheon.  Purple, green and white flowers were spread throughout the home.  Even though this was a small scale event, it seemed really put together.

Flower Delivery Days

I sort of love flower delivery days!!  How could I not?  The studio smells amazing and I have fresh flowers to work with!  So much goodness!!

This delivery was a lot of reds and whites.  Go IU!!!  I'll share a few pics of the goodies I cook up later in the week!

Stop and Smile!!

Whimsical and fun are two words I hope people use to describe our work.  I like for the flowers we use and what we create to make people stop and smile!  Especially on a Monday!  Hoping this makes you smile today!!!

Textures

As a former interior designer, I am always looking and feeling materials and objects.  Texture is something that is tactile as well as visual. You not only want to be able to feel textures, but you want to be able to see them. (Confused yet??!!)  When it comes to floral design, texture also plays a key role.  At times it may not be possible (or appropriate) to reach out and touch a bouquet of flowers.  However, being able to "see" the texture is important.

This centerpiece is full of textures.  Fluffy, rough, smooth, prickly, all in one little vase.  Its pretty amazing what you can achieve with flowers.  And don't even get me started on the smell!  This little guy is a real feast for the senses!

Less is More

When creating floral arrangements for luncheons or showers, sometimes less is more.  I love the look of mercury glass and how elegant and simple it can be.  Often times my clients who hire me to help with small events have already created special decorations or have beautiful linens that they want to showcase.  For those events, I tend to keep my florals simple and clean.  For a recent event, I used 4 inch high mercury glass containers and simple hot pink spray roses with hypericum berries.  It added just enough of a pop of color to the table.  I placed a small arrangement at each place setting and the client provided lovely linens and chargers.  I love when my clients and I can create a beautiful and cohesive look!

Happy Colors

Whenever I get the chance, I like to practice my skills and create designs just for me to enjoy.  Especially when can use colors and flowers that mean something to me.  Recently I designed a centerpiece using the colors I used in my own wedding (almost 9 years ag0!!).  Pink, orange and lime green.  My wedding was in the fall and these colors were so perfect for a cool crisp day!  Thinking about that day just does my heart good!

(Please ignore my messy work table!  I try so hard to be tidy and keep my area clean, but things happen!! Like trying to get 3 kiddos to bed!! HA!)
